The biggest change that women face is the ending of menstruation and reproducing. This called menopause and happens around the time a woman is 50 years old. Menopause means that the ovaries no longer ripen egg cells or produce the sex hormones estrogen and progesterone. There are a lot of misconceptions about the process of menopause though.
It is believed that when women go through menopause that they no longer wanting to have sex and that they lose the drive because of the lack of estrogen. Estrogen is not what fuels sex drive when women are older. Sex drive is fueled by a woman's adrenal glands in her and not estrogen. As some women grow older they connect menopause with the loss of appetite for sex and that does make them lose the drive. But there is no direct correlation between sexual drive and menopause.
Men can also go through a different form of menopause called "male menopause" around when they are forty to fifty years old. Men begin to experience a reduction in libido (sex drive), erectile dysfunction, weight gain, fatigue, and be depressed. Man's menopause is a much more smooth of a period than female menopause is.
